America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders. Now through January 15, 2020, students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in trade schools, community colleges and four-year universities can apply for a $1500 Grow Ag Leaders scholarship. Eligible fields of study are not solely limited to traditional ag-related fields, such as farming and agronomy, but also include education, engineering, mathematics, data science, and communications, among many others.

Each year a portion of your membership dues go to California Farm Bureau Federation (CFBF).  But do you know how that money is, as they say, "working for you?"  Josh Rolph is the Director of Federal Policy and has been with CFBF for almost 11 years. His team tackles a list of key issues that impact California Agriculture with water always seeming to land near the top of the list.  But it isn't the only hot topic right now, trade and labor issues have a lot happening currently, not to mention food safety, forestry, crop protection products, estate tax, Farm Bill and more.  When Josh joined the team he brought with him six years of experience from Washington DC as the Associate Director for the Office of congressional Relations for USDA.  Josh lives in Sacramento with his wife, Kristina and their four children. 

Financial services available to hemp-oriented businesses 
U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer revealed, following his major push, that the Federal Reserve, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), in tandem with the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, have confirmed the legality of banks and other financial institutions extending services and products to industrial hemp-oriented businesses and farms.  READ MORE

CFBF staffer and Dennis Stohl passed away just before Thanksgiving.  Dennis devoted 29 years of his professional career to Farm Bureau and continued to attend Farm Bureau Annual Meetings and events as a partner in Staged Right Productions.

Long Time Board member Tom Brumleve stepped down from the Board this fall for health reasons.  Tom was active as a Board member for the Contra Costa Resource Conservation District, an advocate for sustainable ranching on Mt Diablo and an innovator par excellent!  We wish Tom good health!

For those of you who know Al Giannell and Harriet Zych - please reach out and give them your well wishes for their speedy recovery.
