Teacher's Ag Industry Tour
September 25, 1999 (tentative)

Contra Costa County Farm Bureau's Ag Industry Tour is a one-day excursion into the Brentwood, Knightsen, and Oakley area, and is a chance for teachers to learn about our local agriculture first hand.

Our tour begins at the Antioch Fair Grounds, where tour guide Paul Lamborn, guides everyone through the Mangini Agriculture Museum. Once we are loaded on the bus, we spend the day touring the different packing sheds that are busy packing the many crops harvested during the fall months. These include: Continete Walnut Packing, Nunn Apple Packing, Emerson Dairy, Dwelly Farms, Tennant's Walnut Harvesting, and Blumen Pistachio Farm.

This tour is an excellent opportunity for teachers to see farming operations up close, as well as giving Farm Bureau a chance to expose more teachers to our Ag in the Classroom Program.

Farm Bureau provides all of the transportation and lunch. A $10.00 deposit is asked to reserve your place on the bus, and is returned to you when you board the bus, if you are unable to attend then the $10.00 is used to pay for the bus. Our tentative date for 1999 is September 25, 1999. Please contact the office for more information. Flyers will be sent to Contra Costa Schools closer to the event.
